Founders' Day Student/Faculty Bar-B-Q

Dear Faculty Association Colleagues,

Once again, September has arrived and with it the opportunity to welcome new students to campus and to celebrate UPEI. The tradition of Founders' Day continues with the fifth annual ceremony to be held on Friday, September 10. The purpose of Founders’ Day is to welcome our incoming and returning students, to build on our sense of community, and to honour those who have done so much over the years to build our University.

This year, the Founders' Day celebrations will begin with a Student/Faculty Bar-B-Q to be held from noon - 1:00 pm in front of the W.A. Murphy Student Centre (Rain location: the Court Yard, W.A. Murphy Student Centre). There will be a charge of $3 for this Bar-B-Q. The event is co-sponsored by the Student Union, the Faculty Association and the University.

The main Founders' Day ceremony will take place in the quadrangle in front of Main Building, beginning at 1:30 pm. The Procession will gather at 1:00 pm at the Duffy Science Building and begin at 1:15 pm. Gowns will be available at Duffy for staff, students, or faculty members wishing to borrow them. The ceremony will be followed by a reception at the W.A. Murphy Student Centre.

I want to encourage all faculty members to attend both the Student/Faculty Bar-B-Q and the following Founders' Day ceremony. Let's start the semester off on a great note with our incoming and returning students.

See you there.
